What is a placement?

A placement is a space where ads are displayed. A banner area on a website, a video player, or an ad slot between pieces of content can all be placements. Why well-designed placements matter:
  • They deliver strong ad performance (ROAS) for advertisers
  • They deliver stable ad revenue (eCPM) for retailers.

Step 1: Create a placement

Enter basic information

  1. In the Placement Management menu, click the Create New Placement button.
  2. Enter the following information:
We recommend naming placements in a location_format pattern so they are easy to find later during analysis.

Troubleshooting

Check the following in order:
  1. The placement is active
  2. The allocation is in approved (PUBLISHED) status
  3. The linked campaign is active
  4. The SDK is installed correctly on your website
Check that the responsiveness setting matches your actual website layout:
  • If set to Fixed Size, the creative size must exactly match the placement size.
  • If set to Resized, check that your CSS is applied correctly.
You cannot delete a placement while it has active campaigns (allocations in PUBLISHED status). End all allocations first.
A single placement cannot be used for both at the same time. If you need both features in the same location, create separate placements and A/B test them, or implement logic that shows a different placement depending on the situation.
