# A2 glossary

> Definitions for A2 objects, states, and performance terms.

This glossary defines terms as they are used in the A2 console. Follow the linked guides for setup steps.

## Accounts and ad objects

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Retailer** | A business participant that provides advertising inventory. “Retailer” describes a business context; it is not an A2 account role. |
| **Creative association (LICA)** | The link between a Creative and a Line Item. The Creative and association each have a status and delivery dates. |

For how advertisers, Orders, and Line Items relate, see [Core concepts](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/platform-overview/en/core-concepts.md). See [Line Item setup](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-advertisers/en/line-item-setup.md) and [Register and link creatives](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-advertisers/en/creative-types.md) for setup steps.

## Inventory and ad formats

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **AdUnit ID** | The identifier used by the serving integration. A2 ad requests use it as `tagid`; it is different from the name or Code. |

For other objects and types, see [Core concepts](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/platform-overview/en/core-concepts.md). See [Manage AdUnits and Placements](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-retailers/en/placement.md) for inventory setup and [Native formats and styles](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-retailers/en/native-formats.md) for native ads.

## States

States belong to individual objects. Objects with similar status labels do not necessarily follow the same lifecycle.

| Object | State | Meaning |
| - | - | - |
| Order | Draft | Created but not activated for operation. |
| Order | Active | Open for Line Item setup and operation. |
| Order | Archived | Archived from active operation. |
| Line Item | Draft | Created but not activated. |
| Line Item | Ready | Activated and waiting for delivery conditions such as dates and Allocation. |
| Line Item | Preparing / Delivering | Preparing for delivery or currently delivering. |
| Line Item | Archived | Archived from operation. |
| Creative / Creative association | Active / Inactive | Whether the Creative or its link is enabled for delivery. |
| Allocation | Pending | Created and awaiting an approval request. |
| Allocation | Requested | Submitted for review. |
| Allocation | Published | In delivery. |
| Allocation | Rejected / Canceled / Finished | Rejected during review, canceled, or ended. |

Which status changes are available depends on the account role, object owner, and current state. A Draft or Archived Line Item can restrict Creative association and Allocation actions. See [Order and Line Item lifecycle](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-advertisers/en/lifecycle.md).

## Targeting and performance

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Impression** | An event recorded according to the Allocation's configured impression tracking mode. Check whether it records an ad response or an actual view event. |
| **Click** | An event the site or app sends to A2 when a user clicks an ad. |
| **Conversion** | An event configured as a desired outcome of advertising. |

For targeting, see [Targeting setup](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/for-advertisers/en/targeting-strategy.md); for metric definitions and calculations, see [Performance Metrics and Aggregation](https://docs.aiderx.io/guides/about-a2/en/metrics.md). An ad response, rendered ad, recorded event, and aggregated report are separate checks.

## The word “campaign”

**Campaign** is a general term for an advertising effort. In A2 console workflows, use **Order** for the parent object and **Line Item** for its delivery configuration.
